Nice, and reasonably priced too. Hopefully we'll get a in depth review soon- I'd like to see the TV GUI (not the mobile app GUI featured in the link above). I love my Dune HD Smart, but after using Plex on my TiVo Mini's- the Plex GUI puts the utilitarian Dune UI to shame- especially if you have a good catalogue of older TV shows saved on a NAS. There is a plex client that will run on the A500 its not the best plex client but not the worst either.

It has gotten a little faster then what the video shows on the newer hardware. ^ thanks one2go, I prefer to use Plex which works as a native app on my Qnap NAS vs zappiti which involves a computer having to scan my NAS for new content and then uploading info to my Dune folder. I have Plex autostart when the NAS is powerd up- it scans for new media every 10min, then loads coverart, descriptions, etc. Automatically without any involvement by me- all I have to do is drop new media into it's reular TV or Movie folder and the Plex app does the rest. I also need to have Plex running for my TiVo's anyway, so going forward with the A-500 I basically just have to configure it to my network and add it to my Plex client list. Super simple.

I ordered the A-500 last night, it's estimated to ship in about two weeks. Darbee only does detail enhancement and nothing more, although very effective. VXP compares better to Qdeo for example, because it offers more than Darbee.

It does deinterlacing, detail enhancement (kind a darbee) and shadow enhancement. VXP also offers quite good upscaling capabilities. But Qdeo offers still a lot more settings to play with than VXP. Thad said, VXPs settings for detail and shadow enhancement are subtle, whereas you can crank up Darbee and Qdeo to a very noticeable picture difference. In the end it really depends on what you like.

Just curious as to how the software is on this player is compared to that of the 4k Solo? I guess the difference between this and the Solo is on the software side. What are the plus and minus(differences) of Cloud Medias implementation? Main differences: A500:. MVC mkv.

aluminum/metal case. 3.5' HDD. ESS DAC. 3D subtiles.

DSD/DFS playback (not sure if Dune supports that). USB 3.0 slave. SD card reader Solo 4K:. BD and DVD menu (reliability needs improvement).

Wifi Hotspot. supposed to have android 6.0 but doesn't have it. DVB-T2.

comes with Wifi out of the box. auto resolution I think that's it. Rest comes down to software. The PCH uses Flash (GUI limited to 720p) whereas Dune uses HTML. PCH uses a built-in jukebox which can index etc without a PC or client and can boot right into it. To fully see what the GUI does, it is best to test it yourself and also to see how it compares to the Dune.

Everything known to be working a 100% as its been tested on the vten which is same chipset but single core model. Ton of bug fixes for proper 8-12bit output and color correction (not sure the SOlO has it yet as someone posted a screenshot of a 1080p video outputting at 12bit which everything should be 8bit for BD retail content.) SOLO. Faster UI. HTML UI's are faster but not as interactive (PCH still uses flash for the UI makes for more bells and whistles but a bit slower hopefully we can push them to html5). A500 (and also A410/A400 and 300 series) use EXT3 linux format for internal HDD. That format has limit to 32TB per partition.

But A500 suport also NTFS, where limits are at 256TB. I am not sure if current version of Linux and used NTFS driver can handle it.

From hardware side there shall be no limit now (not below OS limits).
